Summer Solstice: Summer Dawn in the Orchards

Welcome Summer Solstice! It is most definitely an Emerald Green year!

The longer days and higher temperatures push pistachio trees’ demand for water and nutrients. At Orandi Ranch our work begins early in the morning as we have entered the most critical growing stage of the season: nut clusters have “set” and are developing into full pistachios. Although June 21st marks the first day of Summer, Harvest—which begins in late August/early September—will arrive in the blink of an eye.

To meet and sustain the water needs for pistachio trees, ARO Pistachios has drilled a well 1,200 feet to ensure this requirement for the Orandi orchards. We rely on the California sunshine to bring nuts to fruition on the tree and look forward to soaking up all of Nature’s splendor.
